Cast aluminum hamsa

Artist's Statement: This hamsa was made for a class called Modern Middle East. My goal with the project was to do a modern take on the metal-working techniques found in the ancient Middle East. It was cast using a custom wooden mold placed inside of an casting sand. Before pouring, the metal was melted inside of a clay kiln. I used recycled aluminum cans, and aluminum scrap from my shop for most of the material. Below is a link to the casting process:

Guitar stand

Artist's Statement: This guitar stand was designed as a present for Father's day, and with minimalism in mind. I wanted the guitar to be the main focus, and I tried to keep all of the profiles on the stand slim in order to focus the attention on the guitar. There is rubberized tape on all parts of the stand that the guitar will touch to prevent scratches, and there is a bolt on the front leg to adjust the angle that it sits at.

Outdoor tool Holder

Artist's Statement: I noticed a large amount of clutter on my mother's garden work bench. I was thinking of ways to prevent such an unnecessary mess, so I designed the tool holder seen above. It is sections of square tube cut so that the handles and hilts of various gardening equipment can be placed inside, and then easily retrieved later on. I can report that the clutter on the work bench has since been far reduced.
